ASIMINA GEORGIA TSAKONA BA(hons), MArch, PGDip

Asimina-Georgia Tsakona is a Dipl. Architect Engineer and a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece since 2017. She is the founder of AGT ARCHITECTURE, a Technical & Architectural office where she continues her family’s 45-year legacy in the technical and construction field while introducing innovative approaches in contemporary architectural design. Her architectural philosophy focuses on human-centered, environmentally sustainable solutions that balance functionality and aesthetics. At AGT ARCHITECTURE, she leads a diverse portfolio of architectural projects, from residential buildings to commercial spaces, with a commitment to high-quality design and construction.

Her academic background includes studies at the University of Plymouth (BA Hons Architecture, ARB/RIBA Part I) and the Leicester School of Architecture at De Montfort University (MArch Architecture, ARB/RIBA Part II). A pivotal moment in her career was her participation in the Architectural Association’s (AA) Visiting School Athens, where she learned advanced design tools, including Grasshopper, which deepened her understanding of parametric design. This experience introduced her to innovative methodologies that have since become central to her architectural work, allowing her to integrate innovation and flexibility into her projects. Her distinctive concepts helped her secure a place in the Crucible Project at De Montfort University, a prestigious program that supports graduates with an innovative idea to become entrepreneurs. This opportunity provided her with mentorship, resources, and funding to establish her company and create her first innovative design collection, highlighting her recognition as an awarded graduate.

In 2018, Asimina expanded her creative vision by founding AGT DESIGN LONDON, a company based in London and specializing in innovative furniture and product design. As Director and Head Designer, she has collaborated with leading companies to create limited-edition collections that range from bespoke furniture to unique design objects, showcasing her ability to blend contemporary technology with artisanal craftsmanship.

Her work has been showcased in major exhibitions, including Xenia 2018 & 2019 at the Metropolitan Expo in Athens, where her collections gained widespread recognition for their originality and craftsmanship.

In 2022, Asimina launched her latest venture, ASIMINA TSAKONA, a brand that reflects her personal artistic expression. This brand offers a diverse range of artistic creations, including sculptural works, digital art, and design objects such as silk scarves and rugs featuring her original artwork, bringing her artistic vision into everyday spaces.

Asimina's architectural practice is rooted in her belief in human-centered, environmentally sustainable design. Her expertise in parametric design and innovation is applied across her work, whether in architectural projects or the design of furniture and objects. She continues to lead her firm, AGT ARCHITECTURE, specializing in architectural design and building construction, combining her technical knowledge with her innovative design approach.

Outside of her professional activities, Asimina is passionate about sailing, for which she holds a diploma, and she is a Pan-Hellenic champion swimmer with ‘Panathinaikos’ team. Additionally, she is an accomplished musician and composer, having studied piano, violin, solfege, and music theory at the M. Kalomiris National Conservatory.

Asimina has also been twice a Candidate Regional Advisor in the North Sector of Attica (2019 and 2023), reflecting her broader commitment to integrating innovation in public service and urban design. She served as a Special Advisor for Innovation and Entrepreneurship to the Attica Regional Governor, further emphasizing her dedication to fostering sustainable urban development.
